President & Chief Executive Officer
Jill Krueger was named Symbria’s first President and Chief Executive Officer when the company was founded as Health Resources Alliance by 12 non-profit senior-living organizations in 1995. Under her leadership, Symbria has grown from $300,000 to more than $130 million in revenue and a workforce of nearly 2,000 full- and part-time and per diem employees. Jill continues to be responsible for the growth and strategic direction of Symbria’s business lines.
She currently serves on the Board of Capital Senior Living (NYSE: CSU). She is also chair of the CSU Audit Committee and the designated financial expert; serves on the Board of Directors of Fifth Third Bank – Illinois Affiliate; is a member of the Board of the Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition; and is a member of the Board of Directors and Steering Committee of the American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine. In addition, she has served as a Director on two publicly-traded boards, six privately-held for-profit or limited liability company (LLC) boards, and three nonprofit boards.
Before she joined Symbria, Jill was a partner at KPMG LLP. In that role, she worked with senior-living providers and major health systems throughout the United States to develop and implement elder care strategies. Jill is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant and a graduate of Northern Illinois University.
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Rajeev Kumar joined Symbria as its Chief Medical Officer in 2016. In this role, he oversees the development and implementation of regional post-acute services integration models for its clients in 14 states.
In addition to that, Dr. Kumar is the managing partner of an independent Geriatrics practice with 8 physicians and an APN in the western suburbs of Chicago. He is the medical director for British Home and Burgess Square nursing facilities and Transitions Hospice. In addition to providing Palliative care consultations in nursing facilities, he has mentored countless PA and APN students, Family practice residents and Geriatrics fellows - as volunteer faculty and has received awards for excellence in teaching and for inclusiveness.
He has worked closely with AMITA ACO - having served on its board in 2015-2016 and now serving on its Finance and Contracting Committee and the Post-Acute Care Consortium. He has served as Vice chair of Medicine for Hinsdale and LaGrange hospitals in suburban Chicago.
Dr. Kumar trained at Bangalore Medical College in India and then completed a residency in Internal Medicine from University of Illinois, Chicago in 1997 and a fellowship in Geriatrics from Loyola University Medical Center in 1998. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is a Certified Medical Director from ABPLM.
Dr. Kumar serves as chair of AMDA’s membership committee and oversaw the restructuring of membership tiers and benefits and initiation of Practice Group memberships in 2018. He serves on AMDA’s public policy committee and is AMDA’s alternate delegate to the AMA. He has submitted numerous resolutions to the AMDA HOD and continues to be active in shaping AMDA’s policy on Healthcare reform and new payment models. He also serves on the Resolutions committee and the Practice Management Section’s advisory council. In March of 2018, Dr. Kumar was elected to AMDA’s board of Directors as Secretary.
Chief Human Resources Officer
Deb Bragg joined the Symbria leadership team in 2016. As Chief Human Resources Officer, she is responsible for all aspects of human resources, including organization design and development.
Before joining Symbria, Deb was Vice President, Human Resources, for Vizient, Inc., the largest member-owned health care company in the United States. Prior to that, she was Chief HR Officer for UHC, an alliance of academic medical centers and affiliated hospitals, where, in addition to her human resources responsibilities within UHC, she provided services to Chief HR Officers across the UHC membership. She was director of human resources at Ameritech and held several leadership positions at the Chicago Tribune.
Deb has an undergraduate degree in communications from Loyola University and a master’s degree in management and organization behavior from Benedictine University.
Vice President, Symbria Rehab
Brad Miller M.A. CCC/SLP is a Vice President for Symbria Rehab, Inc. Brad has 16 years of experience in rehabilitation operations. He has been a proud member of the Symbria Rehab team since February of 2001. Brad is responsible for the operations of rehabilitation services in more than fifty facilities across multiple states. Brad places emphasis on the development, education, and implementation of strategies to improve the quality, timeliness, and cost effectiveness of rehabilitation services.
Brad graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) in Speech and Hearing Disorders, and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Speech-Language Pathology.
Prior to Symbria Rehab, Inc. Brad served as a clinical practitioner, a Facility Rehabilitation Program Manager, the Director of Quality Assurance, and a Regional Manager of Operations.
Vice President, Symbria Pharmacy
Jay Mandra is a business-focused pharmacy manager and a creative, client-focused thinker. As Symbria Rx Services Vice President, Operations, he works closely with senior living providers in all settings – skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living. He leads an experienced and passionate pharmacy team in developing and refining pharmacy programs that enable providers to achieve and maintain high levels of quality related to the medication management elements of the services they deliver to residents and patients.
Jay has a number of years of pharmacy management experience in a variety of areas. For the past ten years, he has practiced exclusively in long-term care.
Dr. Mandra earned his PharmD degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy.
