Home Health Insider – June 2025 Edition

Frequently Asked Question of the Month:

True or false? The only clinical groupings that therapy can be involved with are Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation and Neuro/Stroke Rehabilitation?

False – this is a myth. There are 12 clinical groupings: Neuro Rehab, Wounds, Complex Nursing Intervention, Musculoskeletal Rehab, Behavioral Health, Medication Management, Teaching, and Assessment (MMTA) – Other, MMTA – Surgical Aftercare, MMTA – Cardiac, MMTA – Endocrine, MMTA – GI/GU, MMTA – Infectious Disease, and MMTA – Respiratory. The primary reason for HH for Musculoskeletal and Neuro/Stroke groupings is for therapy, but therapy can be included for each of the other clinical categories such as wounds, complex nursing (evaluation and treatment after complex medical and surgical conditions), and behavioral health. For all the MMTA categories, CMS has made it clear that therapy should be included if it is clinically indicated based on the needs of the individual.
