Home Health Insider – March 2025 Edition

Frequently Asked Question of the Month:

Are there a limited number of episodes a patient can have under Home Health Part A?

No. Under Home Health Part A benefits, there is no specific limit to the number of episodes a patient can receive. Medicare covers home health services if the patient meets homebound status, skilled care criteria, and their doctor certifies the need for such services. Each episode of home health care may last up to 60 days, but if the patient continues to meet the qualifying conditions, subsequent episodes can be initiated. The need for continued care is assessed and recertified periodically by the patient’s doctor or healthcare provider. It’s important to note that medical necessity and meeting specific homebound criteria are key factors in determining the coverage of home health services.
