Episodes and payment periods are the same, correct?
False. Unfortunately, we find that many providers use these terms interchangeably. There are two 30-day billing periods within the 60-day certification period (episode). The reimbursement is different and dependent on the HHRG. Functional assessments are still due every 30 days for each discipline from that discipline’s start date, and an OASIS reassessment must be completed within 5 days prior to the end of the episode if services will carry over into the next 60-day episode. State rules might require a different time frame.
