Can therapy impact Value Based Purchasing (VBP)?
Yes, therapy can impact The Expanded Home Health Value-Based Purchasing (HHVBP Model). The HHVBP Model includes three data sources: the OASIS, claims, and Home Health Care Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and System (HHCAHPS) survey-based data. The OASIS includes self-care measures and mobility measures used to calculate the new Discharge Function Score measure, the discharge to community, improvement in dyspnea and improvement in management of oral medications measure. The claims measures include ED visits and rehospitalization and the HHCAHPS survey is all about the patient/caregiver experience. The Discharge Function Score measure was added effective 01/01/2025, and the old self-care and mobility measures remained a part of VBP until 01/01/2025.
