Derek Brown joined Symbria in 2013 as pharmacy manager for the company’s original pharmacy location. Since then, he has grown steadily in his leadership responsibilities as Symbria’s pharmacy footprint has expanded from one long-term care pharmacy to six long-term care pharmacies and two tele-pharmacies. In his current role, he is accountable for continuing operational excellence across the company’s pharmacy sites as well as strategically executing plans for growth.

Named Pharmacy Times’ Next Generation Pharmacist – Technology Innovator in 2018, Derek has led Symbria’s efforts to leverage technology and automation to establish safe, accurate dispensing models. Under his guidance, Symbria has implemented systems, products, and methodologies that reduce the risk of administration error, improve nursing efficiency and quality of life, and reduce medication waste and costs.

Derek is dedicated to serving the medication management needs of providers who serve older adults. He has 15 years of experience in long-term care pharmacy, including more than five years as a consultant pharmacist.
